JOB FOR COMMUNITY LIAISON ASSISTANTS

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) are jointly undertaking a project to assess the environmental impacts associated with the oil field operations in Ogoniland, Nigeria.

The objective of the project is to conduct a comprehensive environmental assessment covering all possible areas of impacts (soil/water contamination, impacts on public health, agriculture and fisheries). The project will be executed in a manner to maximise returns to the local community by way of generating environmental baseline for better resource management, capacity building in local administration and improving environmental awareness in the area.

In order to act as the interface between the technical team and the local community, the project is seeking to recruit Community Liaison staff, on Service Contracts, to be based in Port Harcourt or the tour LGAs of Ogoniland:

Community Liaison Assistants - 4 Positions: complying with the following cumulative recruitment qualifications:
Graduate with advanced qualifications in Social Sciences, Journalism, Communication or Public Relations.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive responsible professional experience, including in community relations and communication.
Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing, in English and in the local anguages in Ogoniland and Rivers State.
